Our Story

How we got our name:

In the Hmong culture, we have a saying: “tsis txhob ua maum tshis coj ntug,” which translates to “don’t be a female alpha goat.” The female alpha goat, often the ‘ring leader,’ embodies sociability, liveliness, independence, and curiosity.

Essentially, she’s a troublemaker who goes against social norms. Unfortunately, this saying has been used derogatorily to suppress women, confining them to domestic roles. However, we choose to redefine it. We proudly exemplify the qualities of an alpha female goat and embrace our strength, resilience, and leadership. We stand tall, unapologetically, and inspire others women to do the same.

The color purple symbolizes dignity, strength, and pride. It has been used in movements like women’s rights and gender equality.

Hence, we are Purple GOATS, the acronym for “Gals Of All Trades & Services.”
